Rapid Response Communications
Client: Greater Washington Community Foundation
The Challenge
The Greater Washington Community Foundation partnered with Gallup to survey residents throughout the Washington DC metro area as part of its ongoing Voices DMV project.
The foundation planned to release the survey results in June 2020 -- a few short weeks after the tragic death of George Floyd and in the midst of protests in DC and across the country.
The foundation needed to move quickly to put its Voices DMV results into context -- so they turned to us for help.
Our Approach
Over the course of a few short days, Turn Two worked to create a companion piece to the Voices DMV report that aimed to highlight the disparities in the responses offered by Black and White residents in the D.C. region -- and show how they connected to the tragic death of George Floyd and the subsequent unrest across the country.
To develop the report, we reviewed the source data, identified key trends worth spotlighting, and interviewed GWCF CEO Tonia Wellons and key members of the foundation’s leadership team.
Then, we got to work on drafting a narrative that would put the results in the proper context.
Results
Turn Two provided the narrative for Voices of the Community: Charting a New Path Forward -- a 5-page report that was released in June 2020 as a companion piece to the Voices DMV report.
