Data-Driven Storytelling
Client: The New York Community Trust
The Challenge
For nearly 100 years, The New York Community Trust has served as New York’s community foundation -- managing charitable funds on behalf of donors and granting more than $4.6 billion to support nonprofits.
The Trust enlisted Turn Two to create a report that analyzed its grantmaking patterns over 95 years to demonstrate its impact on New York and provide insights into the evolving habits and priorities of its donors.
Our Approach
Turn Two co-founder Peter Panepento worked closely with designer Gerry Frank to manage the project, gather all of the relevant images and data, and ensure that The Trust met its aggressive production deadline.
Our process included:
analyzing 95 years of data totaling more than $4.6 billion in grantmaking;
interviewing The Trust’s donors to understand their motivations and how they give;
developing a theme and design concept that connected with The Trust’s brand;
creating dozens of elegant infographics that presented complex data in an accessible format.
Results
The New York Community Trust in December 2019 released The Power of Permanence -- a 16-page, ADA accessible report that was shared with news media, donors, and potential supporters.
